JACOBSEN

Nohra Jacobsen is originally from Colombia and has been living in Vancouver, BC since 2000. A Real Estate agent by day, she has always been looking for ways to have an outlet for her creativity and has explored working with different media.
Her move to Vancouver immersed her in a world of greys and subdued colours, a huge contrast from her colourful native Colombia.
Painting and more specifically, mixed media have become her outlet of choice. She is constantly gathering inspiration from nature, found objects, and through the macro lens in her camera. Mixed media is a great way to evoke textures found in nature and the layer structure of the physical and spiritual worlds. She has been formally learning more about techniques over the past few years and enjoys experimenting with new processes and materials. She has been under the tutelage of Denna Erickson and more recently Sonya Iwasiuk at 1000 Parker Studios in East Vancouver.
